Did you know that Iceland doesn’t have a regular zoo? The Reykjavik Zoo focuses on Icelandic domestic animals and our rare wild animals, such as minks, foxes and reindeer. A few years back, a new section of “exotic animals” was added, which includes reptiles, turtles, insects, and amphibians. The video above is a short highlights video of the actual live stream.

The Volcano in Reykjanes Peninsula – Live stream

Iceland is, of course, known to be the land of fire and ice. In the past few years, the Reykjanes Peninsula has definitely been showing the fire side of the country, with 9 eruptions so far. Not all of them have been safe to visit, but the first few definitely were. Valur went to the Fagradalsfjall’s eruption and did a live stream.

We understand that people are interested in eruptions, so we made a blog which shows how you can enjoy volcanic eruptions safely.

The Icelandic Elf School

Did you know there’s an Icelandic Elf school? There, you can get an introduction to Iceland’s elves and hidden people. The Elfschool is open all year round in Reykjavik. The school is 33 years old this year. What students in the Elfschool gain and learn is everything that is known about elves and hidden people, as well as gnomes, dwarfs, fairies, trolls, mountain spirits as well as other nature spirits and mythical beings in Iceland and in different countries. And also where these creatures live, what they look like, their ideas about humans, as well as all the other nature spirits that seem to live around us here in different dimensions – as the elves themselves claim that they live in. Valur met with the headmaster, Magnús Skarphéðinsson, and discussed the school and the Paranormal Foundation of Iceland.

Inside Hallgrímskirkja Church

Hallgrímskirkja is Reykjavik’s iconic landmark, named after poet Hallgrímur Pétursson. Designed by Guðjón Samúelsson in 1937, its unique look was inspired by Iceland’s basalt columns. Construction took over 40 years, finishing in 1986, and the tower stands 74.5 meters tall, offering panoramic views of the city.

Inside, the church houses a massive pipe organ with over 5,000 pipes, renowned for its acoustics. While it serves as a Lutheran church, it’s a major tourist attraction, blending faith and Iceland’s natural beauty in its striking design.
