Tour description

Golden Circle is the most popular tour in Iceland.

This private Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon tour takes you to many of Iceland’s most beautiful sites and ends in relaxation at the Secret Lagoon.

The Golden Circle Tour is the most popular in Iceland and a “must do”. On this tour, you’ll visit Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss, with a relaxing soak in the Secret Lagoon (Iceland’s oldest swimming pool) after you’ve taken all the sights.

You’ll see fascinating geology, beautiful countryside, exploding geysers, and Iceland’s second-largest waterfall Gullfoss.

Itinerary

Þingvellir – The National Park

We will visit the National Park Thingvellir [Þingvellir], where Icelandic history and great geological wonders come together. In Thingvellir, a parliament was established in 930, but the North American and the Eurasian plates also meet where the two tectonic plates meet.

The Geyser area – Geothermal Park

We will go and walk among the bubbling hot springs in the Geysir area, where we will also stop for lunch.

In the Geysir geothermal area, Strokkur, a fountain geyser, is famous for its frequent eruptions every 5-7 minutes. It can sometimes erupt to 40 meters in height!

Gullfoss – The Golden Waterfall

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. It is located in the river Hvítá [White river} that runs from the 2nd biggest glacier in Iceland, Langjökull [Long glacier].

The Secret Lagoon – Dive into the oldest pool in Iceland

Relax in the Secret Lagoon with its magical surroundings at the end of the day. The warm water stays at 38-40°C (100°F). The Secret Lagoon was made, from natural geothermal resources, in 1891 and is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. Swimming lessons took place there from 1909 until 1947, when the new pool at Flúðir opened. Around the Secret Lagoon, you find several hot springs where the steam rises into the air and gives the surroundings a fairy-like feeling.
