Diamond Circle Tour: North Iceland’s Natural Wonders

Embark on the Diamond Circle Tour, a scenic route that takes you through the most breathtaking destinations in North Iceland.

The tour departs from Akureyri at 9 AM, setting the stage for an unforgettable day of exploration.

Goðafoss Waterfall

Our first stop is the magnificent Goðafoss Waterfall, a stunning sight that marks the beginning of our journey.

Lake Mývatn and Hverir Geothermal Area

Next, we head to the Lake Mývatn area, known for its otherworldly landscapes. We’ll visit Hverir, a boiling mud pit at the base of Mountain Námafjall, where the geothermal activity makes you feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet.

Víti Crater and Krafla Volcano

We continue to Víti Crater near Krafla Volcano, one of Iceland’s most unique volcanic features, where you’ll get a close-up view of this stunning geological phenomenon.

Dettifoss Waterfall

The next highlight is Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Standing at 45 meters tall and 100 meters wide, its thundering waters pour into Iceland’s most impressive canyon.

Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon

We then travel alongside Jökulsárgljúfur, a stunning glacial canyon, to Vesturdalur Valley and the Hljóðaklettar cliffs. These basalt columns mark the remains of ancient craters and echo the past in their imposing presence.

Ásbyrgi Canyon

Next, we visit the awe-inspiring Ásbyrgi Canyon, a horseshoe-shaped depression surrounded by towering cliffs. According to legend, it is the meeting place of the pagan gods.

Húsavík Village

Our final stop is in the charming village of Húsavík, where we take a break at a cozy café before heading back to Akureyri.
