Snorkel at Silfra

This is a self-drive tour that begins at Silfra, located in Þingvellir National Park. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Late arrivals may not be able to join the tour.

Driving from Reykjavík to Silfra takes about 1 hour. If you arrive early, we recommend a visit to the Þingvellir Information Center, where you’ll find a café, restrooms, and a gift shop. Please note that parking at the National Park costs 500 ISK, payable at the meter on-site.

What Is Silfra?

Silfra is a unique rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It’s constantly filled with glacial meltwater that has filtered through lava fields for decades, resulting in some of the clearest water on Earth, with visibility often exceeding 100 meters.

The Experience

Once you arrive, we’ll suit you up in a dry suit and take you on an unforgettable guided snorkeling tour through the four main sections of Silfra.

Floating in Silfra is like entering another world—icy water, vibrant colors, and surreal underwater views create a peaceful and meditative atmosphere. This tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim between continents in crystal-clear water.

Participants must:

1. Have read, signed, and followed directions on the Snorkeling Silfra Medical Statement
2. Sign our liability release form at the start of the tour
3. Be between 150cm and 200cm in height
4. Be between 45kg and 120kg in weight
5. Fit within our dry suit size chart 
6. Be a minimum of 12 years of age on the year
7. Be comfortable in the water and be able to swim
8. Be physically fit
9. Be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit
10. Be able to communicate in English or have a translator available at all times during the tour
11. Not be pregnant

Cancellation policy:

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if the booking is canceled 2 days or less before the event. 10% of the tour amount is not refundable.
