We end our delicious food journey at Reykjavik Harbor—the perfect starting point for your Northern Lights Hunt by Sea.

After your incredible Icelandic food journey, you’ll have a short break to relax before the next adventure begins. At 9 PM (October 1st – March 15th), you set sail from Reykjavik’s Old Harbour for a Northern Lights hunt by boat. Within 15–20 minutes, you’ll be far from the city lights, surrounded by mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, and the twinkling skyline behind you.

Your expert guide will explain the science of the aurora borealis, as well as the myths and stories different cultures have told about this natural wonder. While waiting for the lights to appear, you can enjoy a fascinating Northern Lights video, grab a warm drink at the onboard bar, or simply relax in the cozy indoor area. When the lights begin to dance, you’ll be glad for the free overalls (available in all sizes) that keep you warm on deck.

The sailing takes around 2–3 hours, depending on when the lights show up, returning to the harbor between 11 PM and midnight. In September and from March 15th to May 1st, the tour departs at 10 PM. Altogether, your evening spans from 5 PM to midnight—a perfect blend of authentic flavors and unforgettable starlit skies.
