Laxnes Horseback Special

A trek on the hardy, sure-footed Icelandic horse is an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, young or old, these friendly horses—known for their alert and willing nature—are a pleasure to ride in their natural Icelandic surroundings.

We will pick you up from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik and drive just 20 minutes to the farm. Upon arrival, you will receive all necessary gear, including helmets, boots, and rain clothes (snowsuits during winter). After gathering information about your riding experience, we will match you with the perfect horse for the tour.

The Laxnes Horseback Special lasts around two hours (or one and a half hours in winter), taking you on a scenic ride through the lush valley surrounding the farm. You’ll have the chance to follow the riverbank route, crossing the stream several times as you make your way toward the ocean, or explore our favorite summer trail that leads you up to Tröllafoss waterfall. Legend has it that trolls bathe in the waterfall after midnight on a full moon, adding an element of mystery to this special Icelandic adventure.
