Mælifell, the birdlife-rich Álftavatn lake, and the dramatic Markafljótsgljúfur canyon with its layered lava walls and cascading waterfalls. Other possible stops are the famous geothermal oasis of Landmannalaugar, the active Mt. Hekla, or unique formations like Mt. Einhyrningur, known as the “Unicorn Mountain.”

Please note: We want to emphasize that it’s not possible to see all the sites above in one day. Based on weather conditions we will choose the best route for the day and make sure you have a wonderful time. Landmannalaugar is the most visited place in Fjallabak. If you want to be sure to go there we do have a specific

Good to Know

  • The tour departs from Midgard Base Camp. Please show up no later than 15 minutes before departure.
  • Summer season (Middle of June – October). Please note: We do not operate this tour before June 20th due to massive snow melting and overflowing of glacial rivers in the highlands.
  • Minimum age - 5 years
  • There is a minimum of 4 participants for this tour. If you want to book this tour but you don’t reach the minimum you can always send us an email
  • Wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes and warm clothes according to this area’s weather forecast!
