Embark on an epic adventure through North Iceland, where the stunning landscapes of Lake Mývatn and its surroundings await!
We start our journey by driving along the beautiful coast of Eyjafjordur, one of Iceland’s longest fjords. Our first stop is Goðafoss, known as one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. From there, we head to Lake Mývatn, a stunning body of water created by a massive basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago. The surrounding landscape features volcanic formations, including towering lava pillars and rootless vents, making it a geological wonder.
Next, we visit the hot spring area at Hverarönd in Námaskarð, a geothermal paradise. Then, we continue on to Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. The sheer force of the water here is an unforgettable sight.
On the way back, we explore the unique lava formations of Dimmuborgir, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Mývatn area. We also stop at Skútustaðagígar, an area of mesmerizing pseudo craters.
Our final stop brings us to Eyjafjordur, where you can take in breathtaking views across the fjord toward Akureyri.
This epic adventure is a perfect way to experience the natural beauty and raw power of Iceland’s north.
Lake Mývatn and the surroundings are a must-see while exploring the north!
