Active Volcano & Blue Lagoon Admission Tour

A new fissure has opened at Fagradalsfjall at around 14.00 on August 3rd, 2022!

Hike to the Fagradalsfjall volcano to see the eruption with flowing lava, then rest at the Blue Lagoon geothermal SPA. 

A volcano eruption site and naturally warm healing waters are something that you don’t see every day. In this tour, volcanic and geothermal activity run the scene to make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The beautiful backcountry of Reykjanes Peninsula offers variated scenery, natural phenomena, and places of stunning beauty and is only a short distance from Reykjavík!

The tour departs from Reykjavik at 8 AM

Hike

This hike takes around 2 hours one way and is of moderate difficulty for a person of reasonable fitness. You will be there with an experienced guide who will tell you about the area’s geology and explain the formation of volcanoes. Please follow his instructions as you cannot enter some areas or come too close to the lava for safety reasons.

Please take comfortable hiking shoes, warm clothes, and waterproof layers. 

Lunch

Around 2 PM, there will be a stop for lunch (meal is not included). Please bring some snacks and a bottle of water with you. 

The Blue Lagoon 

At the end of the day, you will relax for around 2 hours at the one and only amazing Blue Lagoon geothermal SPA. The admission tickets and towels are included; just please take your swimsuit. 

You will be back in Reykjavik around 6 PM.

Good To Know

  • The minimum age of passengers is 6
  • There is no food included on this tour but there will be a stop for lunch
  • This tour involves hiking to and back from Fagradalsfjall volcano; the hike is about 8km total with elevation gain of around 300m
  • Volcanoes are a natural phenomenon and the level of volcanic activity at the site varies from day to day. Even if the volcano is not erupting during your visit, visiting the area is still fascinating
  • Hiking poles are recommended and can also be rented when booking
  • Please take your swimsuit, comfortable hiking shoes, water and snacks for the hike as the lunch stop is at 2 PM, warm first layer of clothing and a waterproof second layer
