Welcome to Midgard Base Camp, your ideal adventure hub in Iceland. Centrally located on the south coast, it offers easy access to sights and activities. Enjoy our rooftop sauna, hot tub, and comfortable beds. Indulge in delicious homemade food and local beer at our restaurant and bar, where our talented chefs cater to all diets, including vegetarian, vegan, meat, and fish options. Experience a warm, family-like atmosphere during your stay!
 
We can’t guarantee you’ll see the Northern Lights, as they depend on the weather, but Hvolsvöllur offers a better chance than Reykjavík due to minimal light pollution. Our small town is perfect for spotting the auroras, whether you’re relaxing in the rooftop hot tub at Midgard Base Camp or enjoying the cozy outdoor area.

Located on the outskirts of town, you can take a quick 5-minute walk to find absolute darkness for optimal viewing. If the Northern Lights forecast is promising but visibility at the camp isn’t great, we’ll organize a tour to help you find them.

Northern lights (conditions permitting)
Highlights of the south coast of Iceland including: Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, black sand beach, Eyjafjallajökull and more

The package includes all tours, activities, accommodation, meals, transport, and transfers.

Good to Know

  • This tours operates from October- April
  • We recommend comfortable clothing, hiking shoes and warm clothes. When your booking is confirmed, you will receive a detailed packing list.
  • Minimum age of12 years old. However we also offer specific departures for families with children from 7 years old.
  • For those who want an authentic experience and that like to connect with locals. For those who like to get up close to Iceland’s geographical wonders and seek for the Northern Lights.
