This tour is dedicated to Cruise Ships passengers. The departure is from Akureyri Port.
First, we drive along the coast of Eyjafjörður, one of the longest fjords in Iceland. We begin by stopping at Goðafoss waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, on our way to Lake Mývatn. The lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents.
We take a look at the mysterious Grjótagjá cave and a stop at the incredible hot spring area at Hverarönd in Námaskarð. Then you can relax at the Mývatn Nature Baths, a fantastic geothermal lagoon with blue-milky water. On the way back, we explore the unique lava formations of Dimmuborgir and Skútustaðagígar pseudo craters area.
Our last stop is in Eyjafjörður, where you can see over the fjord to Akureyri and take a great photo shot.
The Blue Lagoon of the North – equally impressive but less crowded and cheaper.
The entrance fee to the Nature Baths is not included, but you can add it to the tour. If you don’t want to relax in the geothermal pool, you can rest at the “Kvika” Restaurant. Please bring your swimsuit and a towel.
Please note that the schedule can differ between cruises; for some of them (due to docking times), visiting the Mývatn Nature Baths will be impossible.
A perfect, safe option during a stop in Akureyri for those traveling by Cruise Ship. There are must-see attractions in the north of Iceland.
