Tour description

Landmannalaugar in Iceland is a unique place

Landmannalaugar in Iceland is a magnificent place. The lava field is surrounded by mountains of colourful Rhyolite and is one of the most popular places for hiking.

Landmannalaugar means “Land mans pools” because of the natural geothermal pools in the area.

In the past, it was a welcome place for travellers who had travelled the country on horseback or on foot to stop and bathe.

So do not forget to bring your swimsuit and a towel with you on the trip!

This is a Super Jeep tour to Landmannalaugar in Iceland with an optional easy/moderate two hours hike.

Some Highlights

Fossabrekkur

Wonderfully lush place

Close to the roots of Hekla is the source of the river Rangá. This is a wonderfully lush place in the middle of the desert. The river comes from underneath the lava and is ice cold and fresh. So bring your water bottles and fill them with the best water you will find.

Valafell

Black sand valley

The South Coast offers The Black Sand Beach; we offer you the Black Sand Valley on this trip. We will stop at the top of a hill with a view over a valley covered with volcanic ash from the historical volcano Hekla. A place where you feel like you’ve been stranded on the moon.

Landmannalaugar

Hike and natural pool

Welcome to Landmannalaugar in Iceland. We will stop here for a couple of hours. The guide will offer you a hike up to Brennisteinsalda or the Sulfur Wave. During the hike, you are surrounded by nature so peculiar that you would hardly be surprised if you saw an elf running by. The colourful rhyolite mountains and some small hot springs are scattered close to Brennisteinsalda, with mystical steam rising from them. After about two hours of hiking and returning to the huts, there is still enough time to take a bath in the natural pool.

Hnausapollur

The Crater

Hnausapollur is a huge crater on our way from Landmannalaugar. The breathtaking view over the crater with high contrast, red lava and the blue lake makes this stop wonderful.
