This combo of a city walk and puffin-watching tour takes roughly five hours with a two-hour short break in the middle. You have two options of how to experience these people and puffin watching tour.
If you choose the 10 AM starting time, you take our enjoyable city Walk at 10 AM (it will last roughly two hours). Then you will have a short lunch break before heading out to puffin watching on board a comfortable boat at 2 PM (this tour section takes about an hour).
If you choose the 2 PM start time, you begin with the puffin watching at 2 PM, then enjoy our Reykjavik city walk at 5 PM.
The Walk With a Viking Reykjavik city tour is designed to help you get your bearings in our capital city and make the most of your stay in Iceland.
We recommend this as your first stop in Reykjavik! This is your introduction to Iceland.
For even more specialist adventures, head over to our Reykjavik Walking Tours.
We meet at Ingólfur Square in central Reykjavik at 10 AM (by the pair of three-meter stone pillars). Our Reykjavik walking tour is an ideal introduction to Iceland. It will help you get your bearings and make the most of your stay in Iceland.
We’ll visit all of the famous landmarks in the city center, such as Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik Harbour, Hallgrímskirkja Church, Reykjavik Pond, and the Parliament building. As you walk, our expert guides will bring Iceland’s culture, history, and mythology to life!
We’ll show you our favorite places to eat and drink, alongside pointing out some hidden gems that other visitors to the city may miss (such as a visit to an Elf home). This introduction to Reykjavik takes around two hours.
Then you have time to grab lunch between 12 and 1:30 PM (maybe try the one and only Icelandic Hot dog?) before heading down to the harbor and starting the next part of our adventure.
Your puffin-watching boat leaves at 2 PM from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík, and it takes us only about 15 minutes to reach the puffin island, Akurey.
On the journey out, you will catch beautiful views of Reykjavik from the sea. The expert guide leading your tour will also share information about the buildings and islands that can be spotted along the way.
The island’s shores are rocky, but Old Skuli, our boat, is specially designed to take us as close to the islands as possible due to its shallow draft.
When we arrive at the islands, we turn off the engine so our guests can observe the birds and their idyllic surroundings.
Your guide will give you all the facts and fun stories about these adorable, iconic birds and the other wildlife that might be seen on tour.
We’ll show you our favorite places to eat, drink, and visit in Reykjavik. We also have an intimate knowledge of happy hours and promotions in the city that we’ll share with you.
We never have more than 12 of our new friends on this tour, meaning we can answer all your questions and get to know each other.
Check out our Private Walk With a Viking option if you’d like a smaller, more personal experience.
