Iceland Solar Eclipse 2026 - Snæfellsnes

Definitive Minibus Experience

Join this once-in-a-lifetime journey to experience the total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026, set within the dramatic landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Traveling by comfortable minibus from Reykjavik, this small group tour is designed with flexibility at its core, allowing your local guide to adapt the route throughout the day based on weather, traffic, and conditions to make the most of every moment.

Snæfellsnes offers the longest totality in Iceland, with more than two minutes of complete eclipse, framed by glacier-capped volcanoes, lava fields, black sand beaches, and rugged coastline. During the day, you will explore as many scenic highlights of the peninsula as conditions allow, experiencing its unique mix of natural wonders and ever-changing light.

The highlight of the tour takes place at a private Icelandic horse farm, far from crowds. Here, you are welcomed with celebratory drinks before enjoying a home-cooked early dinner made from local ingredients. From this calm rural setting, you will witness the full eclipse sequence, from the first partial phase to totality and the gradual return of daylight. There is also time to relax, explore the farm, and meet Icelandic horses, adding an authentic local touch to this rare astronomical event.

This thoughtfully curated experience combines expert planning, local insight, and a serene private location, creating a truly memorable and immersive way to witness one of nature’s rarest spectacles in Iceland.

Please note

– The itinerary will remain flexible throughout the day. We will begin by exploring the northern side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, then adapt our stops and the time spent at each location based on weather forecasts and traffic conditions.
