Hot Spring Snorkeling Tour in Lake Kleifarvatn

Unlike typical hot springs, the geothermal vents at the bottom of this lake are cool enough to snorkel above, offering an unforgettable adventure in nature.

Begin your journey at Seltún, a nearby high-temperature geothermal area, where you’ll explore bubbling mud pots, colorful sulfur deposits, and receive a briefing from your expert guide about the snorkeling experience and the geological wonders of Kleifarvatn.

At the lake, change into your dry suit and prepare to immerse yourself in Iceland’s serene volcanic waters. Swim toward the underwater hot springs, viewing the white and yellow sulfur deposits on the lake floor, until you reach the bubbling calderas. Many describe this sensation as “snorkeling in a glass of Champagne”—an awe-inspiring experience unique to Iceland.

After returning to shore, warm up and relax with hot chocolate and cookies while taking in the volcanic scenery, making this adventure as comfortable as it is extraordinary.

Please Note

Participants must:

• Read, sign, and follow directions on the Snorkeling Medical Statement

• Sign a liability release form at the start of the tour

• Be between 150–200 cm in height and 45–120 kg in weight

• Fit within the dry suit size chart

• Be at least 12 years old in the year of the tour

• Be comfortable swimming and physically fit

• Be able to communicate in English or have a translator present

• Not be pregnant

• Eat well before the tour

Participants are not allowed without completing the Medical Statement and, if required, physician approval.
