Next, marvel at Mælifell, a striking moss-covered volcanic cone rising from black sands against the icy backdrop of Mýrdalsjökull Glacier. Learn about Katla, the “Sleeping Giant,” hidden beneath the glacier and one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes.
